Fabulous Friday

In Seniors we had a busy last day. We woke up to some Juniors singing “Rise and Shine” on their way back from fishing. They even helped ring the wake up bell. We had a special Mass where we prayed for the Holy Spirit to use us and our gifts when we get home. We always end our Friday night party with “American Pie.” The tradition is for the Senior Seniors (the campers who will be graduating next year) to form a circle and everyone else forms a larger circle around them. This group of Senior Seniors is awesome and we hope they can be counselors next year! Now all we have left to do is pack up and celebrate Mass tomorrow before heading our separate ways.

Thursday in Juniors

We had the opportunity to have Mass today with our Senior friends. We had a night swim in the evening. We ended our night with an amazing campfire with songs and prayer. It has been wonderful to watch all of these children grow in Christ this week. All of the counselors are very thankful that each and every one of the campers are here to share in the love of God this week.

Healing Thursday

Thursday started out sunny, then turned rainy, then sunny again. We stayed busy with our regular morning schedule but after lunch we had “Super Siesta.” Everyone needed the longer rest/nap time to recharge for the rest of the week! For supper we were treated to amazing pulled pork, mac and cheese, baked beans and cookies courtesy of the Diocese of Quincy. It wasn’t a true “Bish-B-Q” because Bishop Morales had a family emergency, but the folks from St. Michael and All Angels in Peoria were awesome. Thanks to everyone who worked to make our dinner so nice! We surprised the campers by moving our healing service to Inspiration Point. We were able to praise our Lord through singing and silence while He put on a phenomenal sunset for us. The Holy Spirit moved among and through us as some chose to be anointed with oil and prayed over.

Wonderful Wednesday in Juniors

As we woke on Wednesday, we heard the rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning. During our Mass with the Seniors, the sun started peeking out and we ended up with a beautiful day. In class with Father Ben we learned the next part of our story of the family of God. He taught us all about John the Baptist. We ended our night with a beautiful evening prayer service at the chapel with the entire camp.

Senior Wednesday

The seniors had a pretty peaceful day today. We started out pretty wet at breakfast but during Mass we were singing “We Believe” and the sun came out! During choice time some campers worked on their Pysanky eggs and the rest went to the gym and played with the parachute. In the evening we had an amazing all-camp Evening Prayer in the chapel. The sound of 77 campers praising our Heavenly Father in song truly was breathtaking. We tried making popcorn over the campfire for our snack but it failed. We gave it our all but mostly ended up with charred popcorn and unpopped kernels. At least it was funny! It’s hard to believe the week is half over, but we are growing closer as a family of God every day.

Terrific Tuesday in Juniors

Tuesday was another busy day in the Junior session. After breakfast, we had Mass & Class with Father Ben. We are learning about the Family of God this year. Today’s lesson was on Abraham. After class, we went on a hayrack ride to have a picnic at the park. In the evening, we went to the Middlers session to play the 2016 church camp family reunion games with the whole camp. We had so much fun with the Middlers and Seniors. Then we ended our night we ice cream and compline.

Senior Tuesday

Today was Taco Tuesday and the dining hall staff didn’t disappoint. Lunch was yummy! After our morning routine (which includes Morning Prayer, breakfast, Holy Eucharist and class) we tried some new things. During “choice time” some of us tried archery while others learned the egg-decorating art of Pysanky. After supper we had a “Family Reunion” with some all-camp games. We got a little messy with shaving cream and a little wet trying to fill a bucket with water, but everyone had a blast. We ended the games with ice cream! Looking forward to a wonderful Wednesday!

Monday in Juniors

Our first full day at camp was a GREAT one! The junior campers participated in Morning Prayer, Mass & Class with Father Ben and some free playtime. In the afternoon, we had our first opportunity to visit the lake. It was a big hit! All campers wear life jackets in the lake. They can climb the iceberg, play on the lily pad, and try to cross the moving logs. There are also paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks the campers can take on the lake. A few campers were able to ride in the sailboat. Others will get to go on another day during the week. In the evening, junior campers participated in a night swim and s’mores around the campfire. All the campers were definitely ready for bed at lights out time! J

Middler Sunday

We had a very busy day in Middler’s session. Checked in, met new friends who quickly became family and ended the night with Broom Hockey and a beautiful compline service. Can’t wait until tomorrow for our first full day of camp.Deacon Jason Bowden Get Outlook for iOS Get Outlook for iOS

Middler Monday

Our first full day in the Middler Session was just that…Full! Morning Prayer, Mass, Class and family time, lake and pool swims, sports, tie dye and the Dutch Auction. The picture here is our compline service and campfire at Inspiration Point to end the evening. Most importantly, the spirit was full on this day. In us, surrounding us and filling us full.Deacon Jason Bowden Get Outlook for iOS Get Outlook for iOS
